We recently were informed our brick supplier/engraver passed away. Our last order of Memorial Bricks was never completed. For the last week we have looked and found another supplier/engraver. However, the recent order was just submitted last week. The good news is, we were informed, the new supplier will be faster on delivery. (We hope!) We are going to try to keep the price the same for next year. In working with the new supplier, we might have to increase the minimum order to a dozen bricks orders instead of ten to keep the cost down. Another factor is the freight charge. We will monitor the orders this year and decide next year if we have to increase the cost of Memorial Bricks. We hope we will not have to.
We have been clearing the new property and taking down trees to be made into lumber to construct a replica of the Parapet. The portable sawmill owner will be at Confederate Memorial Park on May 11th, 12th and 13th. We need help! Anyone that can come and help please email us! These dates will just be for helping with the sawmill. We will email everyone again with a date on when the Parapet will be built.
The flowers are blooming at CMP and for the first time the mound of remains from the consolidated smallpox cemetery have flowers on their grave. Also, Thank you to Vernon and Delores Dorsey, for the 2 magnolias trees that we planted where the fence corners in the front of the cemetery mound will be.
Point Lookout State Park soon will be beginning the water/sewage project in the remainder of the 2nd acre consolidated smallpox cemetery. The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has been working with us to ensure the consolidated smallpox cemetery will be protected. DNR re surveyed the cemetery in December, using the surveys we provided them from 1868 and 1931. All four survey markers (U.S. 1, U.S. 2, U.S. 3 and U.S. B) were located within an inch of where they were set.
We have been waiting over a year for the new granite informational signage and monument for the Daughters of Charity for the new areas. We were informed that the granite materials have been received for most of the order and we should receive the informational signage in a couple more months.
Thank you all for your support.
Always for their Memory,
Jim and Christina Dunbar
